House

Before starting on the house I looked at the designs of the houses from the Witcher as I feel they would fit the scene very well. I got a picture of a building make of brick and stone and another made out of wood to help me with getting an idea on how to build the house from the bottom up. I wanted to also make sure that the building made scenes for the time such as stone was mainly used for the bottom floor to support the wooden top floor of the buildings giving them a unique style to them.

I started working on the bottom floor of the house, since the house is just a background prop there will not be an interior so I have made doors that are shut permanently and they player will not be able to open the doors. I just used cubes stretching them and extruding them to get the shape I wanted for the house trying to make it so its not too blocky but also still medieval style. I wanted a side door that was sorta of like the back of a medieval armoury or blacksmith shop to make the area feel more alive and give it a different look to the rest of the market.

After doing the original plan that the house would be only an background prop that the player could see instead of go inside or see inside. After showing the house to my team we decided that there would be an interior to the house. I added some windows to the house, a second floor and opened where I had the doors originally so that we could put our own doors inside the game. I also added some wood around the windows to make them look better.

I finished the interior and added the second floor to the game so that the player can walk upstairs and explore more of the house. I also added more detail around the sides of the top floor which will be a hard dark wood with a light wood background. To make sure our game is keeping the same theme me and Luke both have roof tiles so that our buildings are a similar style and that they don't look like they are not suppose to be together. I also added a flag outside the building to give it more distinction such as if we want the player to go into a specific building we can highlight it using the flag or they could mark areas that the player can explore.
