Updated Rocks

One of the last bits I did for the games was de design the rocks that I made towards the start of the project because the style did not suit the game anymore ever since I had started to learn Zbrush and Substance Painter. I went onto Maya and made a new rock model by using the same method and the trees and old rock model but I make sure that I would have enough of a poly count that the moneys would look good when they are added into the game, would have a good material and wouldn't look out of place in the world we are building.


Once I had finished the model inside of Maya I took the model into Zbrush so that I could add more damage to the surface of the rock and make it look less perfect as its supposed to look like it has been damaged by the elements. I went around the model using the Hpolish brush to make it less low poly looking and more of the stylized look that we are going for. After I had went over the whole model I then went over some of the edges and corners on the model with the trim dynamic tool to make it look it has taken more damage and less perfect.


Once I had finished with Zbrush I bough the rock into Substance Painter and put the crystal smart material I used on the crystals so that the edges of the rock would have damage and so that the bottom of the rock can have a bit of a mud effect. I also did another version of the model which was a full muddy rock that could be placed around the village area were the grey rock would fit the mountains and waterfall more.
