The idea of character voices was in talks from the beginning of the game to create a small narrative for the player as they go through the world around them. We had talked about what type of characters we would want, where they would fit in and if the enemies should have voice lines. I took to record some voices for some enemies and a Wizard character that we thought would be cool to speak to the player through a spell, this would give an in-game reason as to why the player could hear them without any character being there.
I wrote some small scripts that I believed would fit the characters that would be speaking, The Training Area voice and Wizard I wanted to have a thick accent so decided to portray them in a similar voice, trying to keep to the setting of the game and for a lore reason to have them from the same part of the world. For the Monsters we wanted the smaller enemies to be a bit higher pitched and more gibberish, resembling the likes of Murlocs from World of Warcraft. For the Orcs we decided to have them act as if they are large brute bullies and have a deeper voice.
