The beginning of the week we gathered into our group for the Assignment and Delegated out roles suited for the skillset of each person, for myself I decided to go with the Level Design as it is a skillset I would like to improve and further my skills in for industry use.
The first task we started with as a group was to figure out what type of game we wanted and its core gameplay loop, we went with a Medieval Styled game that focused on using Magic and Weapons to fight Demons in combat.
After deciding what type of game we were going to lean towards we went to the internet to find similar art styles to what we would like to make, we decided to go for a low poly art style for this both would look nice after some research into the style online but also allow for more objects to be in the world and have a more optimized experience.
After discussing what type of game it would be, I decided to create a small first area for what the start of the level would look like, dotting around enemy spawns, weapons, blockades, etc.
After drawing up some plans on the starting level it was then time to begin looking at even more concept art and inspiration as to what could be used in the village and surrounding areas. To start I used Miro to create a somewhat simple mood board of the best images I could find and started to pick out the more noticeable aspects of what each image had to offer. We knew the theme would be a fantasy medieval land so finding artwork specific to this was a bit of a stretch as some either had been too high poly or just not what we had in mind while creating the project.
